Winter blooms

We're half-way through November and yet the Sun is still keeping us company with warm amber sunsets (albeit a little too early for our liking), and those frosty, ice-coated winter mornings are yet to emerge (or am I not getting up early enough?!). This glowing warmth coupled with a recent infatuation with Dolce & Gabbana's rich, fairytale folds of brocade and tapestry-like floral designs for Autumn/Winter has been gently guiding me towards Winter florals. These blooms are richer, darker and fuller than the daisies and pansies of Summer. Their bouquet is more Calvin Klein Euphoria than Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb, and their petals fall more heavily; think Iris rather than Apple Blossom. Always of the opinion that flowers should be reserved for the Summer, my appreciation for this trend is surprising to me. However I felt it was time to change my mantra so I ordered a beautiful little dark, floral set from Boohoo. Here it is, splendid in a low, wintry sunset...
