It's upon us once again! Whether you're a dreamy duo or a sexy singleton, having a cosy one in or a swanky one out, here are some great outfit ideas for the perfect Valentine's Day evening...
I'm a huge fan of red and this is the perfect occasion for a dash of crimson lipstick or some Rimmel double-decker red nail varnish, and for a classy, ultra-sophisticated look there's no better way to go than pairing red with black...
Velvet is so in fashion this Winter and what with the chilly temperatures outside, the thickness of this dress makes it a great choice to wear on a cold evening! It's also very figure-hugging so doesn't require a belt, and with three-quarter-length sleeves and a sweetheart neckline it can easily speak for itself without any accessories.

I love a jumpsuit; they're so hassle free! This one has a loose elasticated waist with a black fabric tie so it's ideal for an occasion where you may over-indulge! It also has a lovely gold chain already attached below the neckline. The only slight issue with this jumpsuit is that it has a cut-out section at the back which is beautiful, but it makes it a bit tricky to select an appropriate bra. You may want to opt for a nude bra or one with a transparent back, or if you're small-busted like me you may decide to brave going without... for Valentine's Day this would indeed prove practical ;)

Lace is such a stunning fabric and often creates a perfect balance between sexy and classy. The lace on this dress is quite subtle and minimal so I felt it could do with some accessorising. I added a colourful clutch and some jewellery and paired it with one of my favourite coats; naturally it's red!

Takeaway for Two
For an occasion such as this I think it's important to mark it as something special by still making an effort even if you're staying in. There are plenty of great ways to pair garments together to create a smart-casual look...
I think every girl should have a dress like this in their closet. You can dress it up with a belt and a pair of heels or wear it on its own for a simpler look - it's so versatile! As it is quite plain I added some silver jewellery to make the outfit more special. Naturally footwear for staying in isn't compulsory, but I love that it matches my little slippers!

This outfit is a perfect example of keeping it casual whilst marking a special occasion; the jumper is cosy but the jewelled neckline adds a touch of formality, and the shorts are comfortable but again add a smart touch. As the neckline of the jumper is quite high and the decoration serves as a piece of jewellery in itself, I kept the accessories very minimal here and simply wore my everyday jewellery; a silver bracelet I received from my boyfriend last Christmas and my 18th Birthday ring.

Another great example of a smart-casual outfit that perfectly suits this occasion; the black leggings and strapless top are quite smart but the outfit is softened by the addition of a knitted cardigan. Again I added some jewellery to help make the outfit a bit more special.

Fun with One
Valentine's Day isn't just for couples - it's an excuse to have a relaxing evening with no one on your case! See it as a special occasion to give yourself some hard-earned pampering!
I love these cute scented socks from Dorothy Perkins! They're so fuzzy and are the most amazing thing to pop on after a nice hot bath. This is the perfect opportunity to kick back in some cute jim-jams, catch up with the Big Bang Theory and treat yourself to a couple of cupcakes!

Having an evening with me, myself and I? With no one around to judge, why not get into the most comfortable thing you own? My guilty pleasure is my onesie - if you do not own one GO GET ONE! It's also a great excuse to open those really expensive-looking Christmas chocolates or finally get round to making yourself that marshmallow and popping candy hot chocolate - go all out! You deserve it!

So if you're going somewhere fancy, cooking as a couple or kicking back with Ben & Jerry, there are plenty of options to ensure you have a fab time. Happy Valentine's Day everyone! xx
