Light-headed Love Bug

The sweetest, fluffiest, most sugar-coated day in the calendar is just around the corner and love it or loathe it, Valentine's Day is surely the best day to add a feminine touch to your wardrobe. I'm an absolute sucker for deep crimson or burgundy tones, but this year I seem to be favouring softer shades; clearly the love bug has got me feeling light-headed! With a fresh palette of creams, nudes and dusty pinks I've decided to opt for a more subtle approach to my outfit this Valentine's Day.

Collaborating with Voucher Codes Pro I've selected a collection of items perfect for Valentine's Day as part of their Outfit of the Week posts - check them out!

Whilst browsing online I found myself drawn to quite plain-looking dresses. Very often with special occasions us girls can get caught up in layers of lace and tulle, and I'm starting to appreciate that instead of fussing with frills, keeping it simple can be very sexy! With a minimalist approach to the basics, such as the dress or jacket, you've got a clean canvas to work with and any accessories you choose have room to speak for themselves. It also encourages your man to focus his attentions on you rather than on your complicated choice of attire!

I am loving strappy heels at the moment. They're so light and delicate-looking, and the tassled ties on this pair drape around the ankles almost like a piece of jewellery in their own right. In-keeping with the light theme these feathered earrings will merge beautifully with strands of hair or hang low, accentuating the length of your neck if you choose an up-do. I'm a golden girl through and through and I love the hints of gold that permeate this outfit, such as the shine on the inside of the heels and around the clasp of the clutch.

The dress comes in a choice of colours, but I really love it in "stone" as it works so well with the sleeveless jacket. In this shade it's also more subtle and versatile; it's the sort of dress that doesn't exclaim "high-maintenance" and equally doesn't rule out a cup of hot chocolate back at his place... kick off those heels, borrow his slouchy hoodie and you're night-cap ready. Sweet dreams, lovebirds!
